3 Easy ways to market your real estate business on Halloween
Truth be known, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate! It's loaded with creativity, exhilarating thrills, rainy days, and to me, it's simply all about fun without being over-commercialized. I love the yard decorations, the haunted houses, the unexpected scares, and spoiling the trick-or-treaters. Halloween is one of those days that I look forward to year after year.
Over time, I've also incorporated my business into this holiday as well. I suggest you do the same as it's a great opportunity to market to people in your local area. I mean c'mon, let's think about this. People are literally coming to YOUR house by the droves. Is there any other time of year that this happens??? No! You should take full advantage of it! Let's look at a few ways that you can gently promote your business while enjoying the Halloween spirit.
#1 - Candy bags with Business Cards
This is probably the easiest and fastest way for you to promote yourself. All the materials needed should be readily available this time of year at an area dollar store or hobby store. You'll need:
- Small/medium candy bags (take into account how many trick-or-treaters you normally have and get that many bags.)
- A spool of ribbon that matches your bags
- Halloween candy
- Extra little cheap toys like spider rings, etc. (if wanted, but not necessary)
- Your business cards
- A single-hole punch
- Scissors
Take each candy bag and fill it with a few pieces of candy and some little extras like spider rings, tiny Halloween stampers, bouncy balls, etc. I use about 3 mini candy bars and then maybe just 1-2 toys.
Next, take the hole punch and punch a hole in your business cards in the upper left or right corner of the card. You'll probably need to do this one at a time as the cards may be fairly thick for the hole punch. Set the cards to the side for a second.
Now you'll go back to the baggies of treats. Cut your ribbon into longer lengths that will wrap around the treat baggies. Now tie one ribbon around the top of each baggie, but before you tie the bow, slide your business card onto the ribbon to essentially lace it to the treat bag. Now finish your bow. Walah! You have treat baggie promos for all your neighbors!!
#2 - Candy Bags with Business Magnets
This promotion goodie takes a bit longer and has some preparation involved compared to our first version. It's very similar to #1, but instead, you'll do a business card magnet that's Halloween-specific. Materials that you'll need are:
- Small/medium candy bags (take into account how many trick-or-treaters you normally have and get that many bags.)
- A spool of ribbon that matches your bags
- Halloween candy
- Extra little cheap toys like spider rings, etc. (if wanted, but not necessary)
- Magnetic business cards (these can be bought at an office supply store or a crafting store if you want to design and print them yourself. You can also have them done for you like I do with an online printing service like VistaPrint.com, etc.)
- Scissors
In this example, you'll take your treat baggies and add your Halloween candy (plus toys if you're using them). Then before you place any ribbon on the baggie, you'll add your magnetic business card to the baggie with the treats. As an extra tip, I like to design my magnets with a Halloween theme (you can check out my examples on my Instagram page @amandalynnfarnum). It just adds a little holiday "extra!"
After you have everything neatly in your baggie, then use a strand of your cut ribbon to tie off the baggie. Ghoulishly simple and ready to be dispersed to oncoming ghosts and goblins!
#3 - Neon Necklaces with Flair
Everybody loves glow stuff! It's healthy, it's safe and it's fun! In this promotion, you can decide if you want to do it simply for the adults accompanying trick-or-treaters (after all, they would be your prospective clients, not the little ones obviously) or for everyone. It's your call. I'll tell you what I've done and let you decide. Materials that you'll need are:
- Neon necklaces, bracelets, or light stick amulets (if you do amulets, make sure to get the amulets with the fabric ribbon lariats included)
- Your business cards
- A single-hole punch
For this easy and quick marketing promo, you'll simply punch a hole in the upper right or left corner of your business cards, just like before. Now you'll take a glow necklace and string the necklace through the hole in your card. You can do the same thing if you use bracelets instead. If you're using amulets, they usually come with a fabric ribbon lariat to hang them from. In this case, just string your business card on the lariat. I've also used the regular light sticks and just stuck them in the candy baggies. I give the necklaces to the adults and the treat baggies to the kids. As a side tip, I have a couple on display that are already glowing, but I don't pop the ones I give out until they are there. Then they are fresh and bright for them. Tada! Safety and spooktacular all in one!!
That's it my friend! You're 3 simple and fast ways for promoting your real estate agent business at Halloween. Now, go take a "stab" at it and "scare" up some new clients!
